Emergency Equine Assistance Australia

Emergency Equine Assistance ("EEA") is a mutual support network of equestrian people who are both givers and receivers of emergency equine assistance.

Who do you call when...

  • your vehicle breaks down away from home and you need to get your horse home (or to a safe place)?

  • you need emergency overnight accommodation for your horse?

  • you're injured away from home (eg at a show) and need help with your horses?

  • you're at a show, and have a flat tyre, flat battery, have lost a shoe - and just generally need a helping hand?

The EEA aims at putting people in touch with other EEA members who can assist in a variety of equine-related emergency situations.  EEA members receive a Phone List of emergency contacts (fellow members) each month.  The Phone List, kept in their vehicle, is a source of contacts in equine-related emergency situations.

Who is coordinating this?

Maryanne Fraser - she has played polo, enjoyed hunting and show jumping for the past decade.

Why?

Maryanne was stranded with her horse once and had nobody to call for help.  Driving home via a dark back road, her truck, which only ran on LPG gas, ran out of fuel.  The truck needed to be towed to the closest petrol station, which wasn't a real issue. The issue was that the truck couldn't be towed with a horse onboard. Not knowing the area, Maryanne had quite an ordeal to get her horse home safely.

Companies are welcome to join if they provide 24x7 mobile / call out services.
