Can You Help This Mini Foal?

foal3RSPCA has had a request to help out a newborn foal that has been rejected by its mother.  The filly foal was born Thursday night (29/7/10) and the mare has no interest and is aggressive towards the foal.  A vet has attended and suggested that the foal is removed from the mare and ideally fostered onto a replacement lactating mare or if not available, then bottle/bucket fed.

The mare has been hand milked and the foal has been fed the colostrum and is now drinking from a bottle.  Bottle/bucket feeding will require 3 feeds/day and 3 feeds per night for the first few weeks after which it can be fed 3 feeds per day.  The foal is a miniature horse so is quite small.

The owners Sheridan and Marko from Wodonga/Albury urgently need someone to take on the foal and will pay associated costs of rearing the foal.  They would be very grateful if you can help their newborn filly and would love to hear from you on 0400 324 332 or  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
