1000 voices for equine welfare

Dear friends and colleagues

We would like to make you aware of our newest initiative which is aimed at raising awareness as regards equine welfare, “1000 Voices”.

We are spreading this campaign throughout our networks, and are hoping that some of you may feel strongly enough about this issue to submit your name, or the name of your equine related business, stud, etc.

We hope to achieve many aims through this campaign, not the least of which is to demonstrate that the welfare issues we currently face in Australia are not only of concern to a handful of ‘activists’, but are at the fore-front of the minds of many equine professionals, as we know they are. We also hope to raise discussion around this ‘code’ within Pony Clubs and the like, who are nurturing our equine custodians of the future.

Our new site is still under construction, but the next project will be publishing our Quest Network ‘Safety Net’ page, which will provide contacts in every state of Australia from within our membership who will be available to assist equine owners who are struggling to maintain their horses/ponies, provide advice, support, and if necessary, care for equines in need.

We are also working on an educational ‘pack’ which, when completed, will be available upon request to clubs and groups who would like to have a focus on welfare within their framework.
