About EAQ

EAQ provides equine assisted learning and qualifications to a wide range of people within the UK and Australia.

Equine assisted learning takes many forms and has many names, including:

  • Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)Equine Assisted Training
  • Equine Assisted Personal Development
  • Equine Facilitated Learning
  • Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy
  • Equine Facilitated Training
  • Equine Facilitated Therapy

Whatever the name, the idea is the same - that horses can help humans grow and develop from the inside.

Winston Churchill is quoted as saying "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man."  Anyone who has experienced being around horses will understand that sentiment.

EAQ founder, Tricia Day, began her career by training child care workers and was involved in writing the first NVQs in Child Care in the late 1980s.  She set up her own training company which offered NVQs in a range of subjects including child care, management, customer care, sales, administration, IT, key skills and playwork.

Tricia's first love has always been horses, so when the opportunity arose for her to develop equine assisted programmes she jumped at the chance.  She was the first person to take horses into a prison environment to work with offenders on developing their communication skills using horses to help them.

Tricia has written the first units especially for equine assisted learning which have been approved by the Open College Network for use in the equine assisted learning industry.

Our staff both in the UK and Australia are enthusiastic, dedicated and, of course, well qualified.  They are able to help you to get the most from your sessions with the horses - whether you join us for a 2 hour Confidence Building Workshop or take part in a 6 month long experiential training programme.

Working on equine assisted learning programmes is not like any other type of training or development.  It is really the horse who is the facilitator!  If you are willing to listen, it will be the horse who wil be your teacher!
